The integrated environmental authorisation verifies the environmental compatibility of a given activity.
Activities subject to the integrated environmental authorisation are expressly identified by the law, in a specific appendix (primarily the energy, industrial, chemical and waste management sectors).
In particular, the law refers to certain plants and their respective substantial modifications, in order to then identify the industrial activities to which the integrated environmental authorisation applies (Art. 6, par. 13, of Legislative Decree 152/2006).
The objectives to be pursued through the application of the best available techniques involve reducing polluting emissions and waste, efficient energy use, accident prevention and control during the cessation of activity phase (Art. 6, par. 16, Legislative Decree 152/2006).
